Eurostar London to Paris
Artesia Sleeper Il Palatino Paris Rome
Italy |
The trip, if not of a life time, certainly of the new millennium. As train travel returns as a medium of transit for discerning travellers, the way to CILENTO is now open for an elegant way of travelling. As Eurostar/TGV trains evolve and new routes are developed offering higher levels of speed and comfort, we decided to test the route. Starting in the UK from St Pancras (or Ebbsfleet or Ashford in Kent) we took the Eurostar to Paris. Crossing Paris to the sleeper train station at Bercy, we boarded the Artesia overnight to Rome. We then viewed the French countryside pass as we dined in the restaurant car before retiring. The following morning we saw beautiful Italian countryside and cities pass until we reached Rome. A choice of itineries were available from Rome to Cilento's gateway station of Agropoli. In all a wonderful 24 hours were spent relaxing the journey to Southern Italy. Prices vary depending on day of travel and the comfort class selected. Overnight there are couchettes or sleeping compartments available. Ask for details. |
Hotels,
apartments and B&Bs are typically small and family run. We have
chosen a small range set in the Castellabate Community. They vary from
c16th to brand new. We have stated the "Best time" for non Italians to
stay in every case.
